## English Version

**Speculative Diffusion Decoding Faces a Draft-Speed vs. Acceptance Tradeoff**

A new arXiv paper examines the performance tradeoffs of speculative decoding when applied to diffusion models. Speculative decoding accelerates autoregressive LLM inference by sampling from a faster, lower-quality draft model first; conventionally, there is an inherent tension between draft speed and acceptance rate. Titled "Speculative Diffusion is a Tale of Two Tradeoffs," the work systematically maps how these tradeoffs manifest in diffusion architectures, showing that speedup depends on the balance between draft quality and verification overhead. The paper is arXiv:2610.31819v1 in cs.LG. In practice, teams deploying speculative decoding must recalibrate draft model choices for their own models and workloads rather than reusing parameters tuned for autoregressive settings.
